CLP- extract |
The original treatment at the Clinique was based on fresh cell suspensions prepared from various tissue of fetal sheep. The fetuses were taken about 14 days before delivery under sterile conditions and immediately processed by experienced technicians. More recently the CLP scientists developed a procedure of preparing an extract from such cells devoid of possible virus and with minimal allergenic potency - but, of course, still containing the medically active substances.
Guided by a series of biological in vivo- and in vitro-tests, which demonstrate biomedical activities, our scientific Board first concentrated on fetal sheep liver. In fetal life, liver acts as a central organ in the control of growth and development
 |
Careful veterinary inspection of the sheep flocks |
 |
The high-speed ultracentrifugation of the extract |
 |
Pasteurization according to a recently introduced - and now officially recommended - procedure of the Behringwerke A.G., Marburg/Germany |
The final standardized isotonic CLP- Extract is being injected intramuscularly. The unit per patient contains totally ca. 300 mg of fetal sheep liver protein.
Fetal organs, especially liver, produce (in addition to besides many enzymes), series of growth - and differentiation - factors for specific cells and tissue, hormone-like signals which act as up- or down- regulators in the growth and development of the fetus. Many of these highly active biomolecules, as far as they have hitherto been characterized, have molecular sizes in the order of ca. 10.000 (and less) - 40.000 [<10-40 Kilodalton (kd)]. Thus, they will be present and enriched in the CLP-extract.
Extract treatment cost: Sfr. 16.080
