|
General information |
The school was founded in 1962.A small international school located in the Swiss Alps.
The selection of the right private school from a myriad of possibilities is neither easy, nor is it always straightforward. Choices abound, but making the best one for your child depends largely upon understanding completely your child's needs, both academic and social
Schools offer much more than a classroom and a teacher. They are agents of socialization
Since its founding in 1962, Gstaad International School has striven to nurture the moral, intellectual and physical growth of its students. The objective is to enable young people to return to their respective countries endowed with those qualities which make for responsible leadership. The school's mission includes the building of endurance and stamina in both academics and sports, as well as stimulating personal achievement by teaching the values of respect, gratitude, humor and real caring for others.
The strength of the school's curriculum is in its flexibility to respond to the needs of the individual student: providing usable knowledge, while at the same time inspiring reflection, provoking creative thought, instilling a sense of direction and encouraging identity developments. G.I.S. asks a lot of its students: demanding self-discipline, appropriate behavior and a high quality of work-in its conception and presentation - but not without offering the tools and teaching staff to help students meet this challenge. G.I.S. has a very low student-teacher ratio, employing professional educators seasoned in tutorial instruction.
The school itself is a large Swiss chalet containing a faculty apartment, living quarters for students, dinning and tutorial facilities. Gstaad is renowned as a superb ski and summer sports locale, situated at over 1,000 meters above sea level. It offers a mild climate and the possibility of many indoor and outdoor activities. Gstaad is less than two hours from Geneva International Airport by train or car, and readily accessible from Austria, Germany, France and Italy.
Making the best decision for your child's education requires making an informed decision. Gstaad International School is a special environment where social interaction, academics and sports are combined into a total living experience designed to actualize your child's whole potential.
