Beau Soleil College Alpine International (Villars-sur-Ollon)

Introduction.
The college was founded in 1910.The number of students is about 190. Age: 11-19 years. Beau Soleil is an international College. Students from more than 40 countries of the world live and study here. It gives the children an opportunity to know the history, culture, and structure of different countries, states and peoples.

The main building of the College was built in 1850, then in 1920 it was renovated. It has the accommodation for roughly 100 students, both boys and girls, and houses the administrative office, the main dining room and numerous classrooms, including laboratories and other technical rooms. There are also the main sports facilities, the gym, the heated outdoor swimming pool open throughout the year, sports grounds for football, basketball, volleyball and tennis.

The curriculum.
Academic studies are organized in three sections.

French curriculum.

Over seven years the college and French Lycee curriculum from 6e to Terminal level. (College examinations and French Baccalaureat, types L, ES, S ).

The Anglo-American curriculum

Comprises classes from the 6-th to the 12-th grade and provides students with a general education ( High School Diploma, SAT, AP, TOEFL) and prepares entry to Swiss and European universities by means of the English University of Cambridge examinations (IGCSE, AS Level, AICE).

Such subjects as French, English, Mathematics, History, Geography, Chemistry, Biology are taught in the morning. In the afternoon students continue the program chosen at the beginning of the year.

A laptop will be part of the individual package of each student. Personal research work, teaching scientific courses and communications increasingly require the use of a laptop. A computing support department and classes for new users will ensure everyone gets a chance to become familiar with this tool quickly.

After the 1-st year students can take part in giving the “Secretary Minimum” exam and in two years they will get International Diploma.
