General information |
This college was found in 1949. It is situated in the town of Chesieres-Villars.

Age: 9-18
The Aiglon College is recognized as one of the best in Switzerland. There is a soccer field, a large library, a computer center, modern laboratories, auditory rooms and a swimming pool on the territory of the college. An intensive learning on different directions of education is held at the college. Besides the program of general education students are involved in the intensive course of fine arts and music, they also actively go in for sport such as swimming, skiing, tennis, soccer, volleyball, hiking, rafting and many others. The program is full of various excursions. It contains visits to the museums, exhibitions and different sightseeings of Geneva. Sometimes children go on a hike and visit other countries.
As a rule a successful combination of learning and cultural activities gives a very high result in education.

Curriculum |
The school program is based on the individual approach to every student. The school is divided into three sections vary from each other in subjects and the age of the students. Junior school is a preparatory school which consists of the 1-st and the 2-nd form (corresponds to the American system as the 6-th and the 7-th form) for children at the age of 9-13 years.
Middle school (corresponds to the American system as the 8-th and the 9-th form) for children at the age of 13-15 years.
Upper school (corresponds to the American system as the 10-th and the 13-th form) for children at the age of 15-18 years.
The curriculum of the junior school contains the following subjects: English, Mathematics, French, History, Geography, Science, Arts, Music, Basics of Religion, Dramatic Art. Students learn the basics of French, learn how to read and write correctly. The bases of computer literacy are also taught at the Junior school.
The middle school prepares students for GCSE (General Certificate of Secondary Education) and IGCSE (the international version of GCSE), developing their creative and intellectual abilities.
Entering the 5-th form (High school) many of the students will give their first public exam. To enter the 6-th form they need to get at least 5 points on GCSE. Those students who neither get the necessary amount of points nor did the test at all will join a special program ”College Prep”.
In the 6-th form students can choose the program of many subjects such as English, Literature, Mathematics, French, German, Spanish, Italian, History, Geography, Economics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Arts and the History of Arts.
Students get a special preparatory course to enter the Universities of the Great Britain, Continental Europe, and Northern America. For example, American SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test) is a very important element for entering the American Universities. The school also prepares the students for the Subsidiary-Level French exam after which they will get the International Bachelor Degree.
The students can use the wonderful library, audio, video and computer classes during the whole process of education.

Students from all over the world study at the school so the basic language for all the programs and exams are English. There is a special preparatory course to improve the English of foreigners, which is aimed to prepare students for the main subjects.
