Welcome to the Geneva campus of Webster University
Welcome to the Geneva campus of Webster University. An international university for a truly international experience, Webster offers a unique opportunity to earn an accredited American university degree in Europe.

Coeducational and nonsectarian, the Geneva campus was founded in 1978 along the shores of Lac Leman, minutes from the center of global cooperation and historic negotiation, surrounded by the natural beauty of Switzerland, a wide range of cultural resources, winter and summer sports.

Webster Geneva offers small classes conducted in English, daytime and evening graduate courses, flexible scheduling and challenging certificate programs. Its approach blends the best of American liberal arts education with the teaching expertise of a truly international faculty. Combined with the interaction of a student body made up of young people, midcareer adults, and diplomatic personnel from more than seventy-five nationalities, Webster Geneva is a rich learning environment. Beyond the classroom, student activities, internships and research encounters with prominent business and international organizations, develop an international contact network to last a lifetime.

Webster is an American accredited university in Europe with instruction in English. Students study at our Geneva campus because it is central to Europe, and offers them diversified educational and career opportunities.

About the Geneva Campus
Webster University opened its first European campus in Geneva in 1978. Geneva is the historic center of international cooperation. The United Nations, the World Health Organization, the International Labor Organization, the International Red Cross, the World Council of Churches, and many other international organizations are located there. Since its beginning, the Geneva campus has enrolled students from more than 100 nations.

The Geneva campus enrolls 450 students each academic year, and Student Activities are as diverse as the student body itself.

Located in a park-like setting near the village of Bellevue, the international campus life is just seven minutes by train from the center city of Geneva. The secure and tranquil setting is a brief walk from Lake Leman and affords spectacular views of Mont Blanc.

Campus facilities include classrooms, Computer Labs, a Library, Cafeteria and student center, and an on-campus Bookstore. The University dedicated the academic buildings in 1992, providing students with a modern and excellent environment for learning. Administrative Offices remain in the lovely manor house.

Transportation from Geneva and nearby France is quick and convenient, either by car or public means. Geneva's airport (Cointrin) connects directly to the rail line.

Options for housing and accommodations are arranged by the campus housing coordinator and are conveniently located in Geneva and in areas a short distance from campus.

About Webster Academic Programs
Webster follows the American model of postsecondary education. Academic work following completion of American high school, or its equivalent, is generally toward an Undergraduate liberal arts degree, such as the Bachelor of Arts (BA) or Bachelor of Science (BS). General education requirements are largely the same for both degrees, with elective courses varying with the area of concentration/emphasis. Webster also offers a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA). Graduate-level studies are open to candidates who have completed their BA, BS, BBA or equivalent -- such as the Swiss License. All academic credits earned at Webster, and degrees awarded by Webster University, are accredited.

Webster University offers day and evening classes in intensive eight-week semesters. The academic calendar includes five terms per year. Each student is assigned an academic advisor from the Geneva faculty to assist in planning the course selection and Area of Concentration (Major) that best suits his or her individual interests, capabilities, and goals.

Most courses at Webster carry three credit hours. Successful course completion earns the respective number of credits toward degree requirements. Credits earned in Geneva may be carried forward to any other European campus of Webster, to the home campus in St. Louis, or to other US universities. Undergraduate students who have completed coursework at other accredited postsecondary institutions or have earned college credit from a variety of formal examinations may apply to transfer credits to Webster. Students holding diplomas, such as the International Baccalaureate, the Swiss Maturite, or equivalent qualification, are ordinarily eligible for one year's advanced placement. All applications for transfer credit are evaluated by the Registrar's Office.

An International Student Body
Students at Webster University's Geneva campus are part of an active, diverse, international student body: In addition to traditional university-age students, young professionals, midcareer adults, diplomatic personnel and students from around the globe are attracted to the quality education available at Webster. Alumni also participate in this worldwide learning and career development environment.
Although Webster students work hard, with the average full-time student being responsible for 20 to 25 hours of preparation per week in addition to her/his regularly scheduled classes, sports and recreation are an important part of university life. We have an active soccer team and students participate in other sports such as basketball, tennis, volleyball, and of course, skiing. A nearby sports club also offers facilities for tennis, squash, aerobics, and swimming.
The Student Council (STUCO) is a popular and energetic group, which organizes parties, new student activities, promotes the university journal, and sponsors many social and academic events on campus throughout the year. It also helps students to get practical information about campus life and living in Geneva and to be aware of their student rights and responsibilities.
