Whatever the season, the spotlight is always focused on the Lake Geneva region, or more specifically, on the prestigious events to which it plays host: song, dance and jazz festivals, classical music and opera, historical and cultural fairs. In addition to its rich cultural and historical heritage, the region has developed a firm artistic and intellectual life over the years.
A strong sense of history shows through the well-preserved old towns, historical hearts of the cities, some dating back to the Roman Empire.
Multicultural by tradition, the region has been a meeting point of nations, a cradle and a forum of ideas and experience for over two thousand years. The Lake Geneva area is renowned world-wide as a harbor for major international organizations, such as the United Nations and the Red Cross in Geneva, the International Olimpic Committee in Lausanne, amongst many others, which introduce themselves to the public through attractive museums.
The density of leisure, entertainment and cultural opportunities, for a region with towns of modest size, is unique. Virtually endless ranges of cultural attractions animate the cities of the lake area, with concerts, theatre performances and exhibitions throughout the year.
Summer in region is festival time. The most famous ones are the Montreux Jazz Festival, the open-air classical concerts in the mountain resorts of Verbier and Gstaad and opera performances in a Roman arena. In addition to vast and varied choice of music festivals, other attractions range from comedy, carnivals and films, to folklore. Let yourself be enchanted by the hot-air ballooning contest in Chateau d’Oex, the Festival of the Winegrowers, the great firework display of the Geneva Festival, to mention only a few. The region comprises some of the greatest centers of art in the country, ranging from academic and institutional museums and opera houses, to the most avant-garde art galleries, famous much further than the country’s borders.
MultyEdge takes pride and pleasure in inviting you to discover the cultural delights of your choosing, and in providing your easy access to all of these highlights in the Lake Geneva region.
